ON THIS PAGE: The dress, and my hopeful groom's gift to Brian.Up first: Brian's ring!

THE RING:
As of late May, Magpie Jewelry has offered Brian the wedding band he loves so much. This design, made by Fable Designs and sold locally through Magpie, is amazing and goes really well with my engagement ring (which is also my wedding ring). Magpie, thank you so much. Brian is such a special person and deserves the most beautiful things...I'm so honored to get to present him with something he loves so much. This is A SECRET for now, everyone. I plan to present it to him in a special way when it arrives...shhh! Here's a pic:

THE DRESS:

After a great deal of debate, offers, consideration, and thoughts on the subject, I found my dress. I ended up buying it, but because it's actually a bridesmaid dress, it was only 260.00, and it's going to be amazing. Here's a photo of it:

Picture it 5 inches longer, with a green crinoline sticking out the bottom; also, picture each taffeta flower having a button for a centre...sewn on by yours truly. It's going to be so cute, unique, and very bohemian-rocker-tea-party. I am so very, very excited. Especially cool: my cowboy boots look fantastic with it.

THE GROOM'S GIFT

Brian will be getting a pocketwatch for his groom's gift! We had a friend who said she had one; she'd found it in her house well over ten years ago, and no one knows where it came from. It's from the very early 1900s, and the only problem is that it doesn't work. A non-working pocketwatch usually requires a very fancy fix-up from a special watchmaker. So the question is, do I give it to him as-is? He has said in the past that he'd like to collect pocketwatches that are broken just as much as those that are working...still, I feel a little bad. I'm pondering.

My dad has also offered his own pocketwatch, which is so incredibly touching I could cry. I did cry, actually. It works, and is in fine condition. But I'm leaning towards giving Brian the broken one, but setting it to the exact time of our ceremony. And then Dad, if he's so inclined, can give Brian his own watch as the next addition to Brian's newly-formed pocketwatch collection. He'll love both watches for different reasons, and I know Bri would be overwhelmed by receiving Dad's watch from Dad, directly.

What do you think? If you've got a suggestion, you can email us: put 'pocket watch' in the email or headline and it will be safely whisked off by email elves to a secret folder I have set up.
